About Me

My first 5k I did in about 30+ min, then 29+ min and since it was a small (number of people wise) race I actually placed 3rd in my age category ! (I'm 41 yrs, there was actually someone 3 places ahead of me who was 39 yrs old-- too bad for her-- I hope her birthday isn't soon Foot in mouth) and my third race I improved my score again at 28+ min. Then I injured my Achilles and haven't done another race yet- my best treadmill for a 5k is 27:40. I like sprinting, especially at the end of the race, my general pace is about 9:20 min per mile. I never ran a marathon or half marathon. My training and race approach is that its just like doing four 5 k's in a row. I so far have only ran two 5 k's in a row (readmill) and some trail running and local high school track running. I've been reading some runners magazines though and it does say that there IS a training aproach like that called "HIIT" High Intensity Interval training" so, I'm hoping that the fun of the race with tiaras and Boas and all (and music I assume) will motivate us all along to survive to the finish. Anyone who has given birth (Vag OR C-section) AND Breastfed for any length of time, knows what a thrill it is to accomplish something like that! Hope to get more members on this team. Take Care,

Dr Amy
