Breastfeeding can be an amazing, you-just-can’t-bottle-this experience, and a tremendous boost to your baby’s and your lifelong health! Yet, most new moms struggle to make it past the first few weeks and many stop breastfeeding long before they even reach their personal goals.  How is that possible when the majority of breastfeeding problems are easily prevented and fully resolvable with the right help? The unfortunate reality is that new moms are being “booby trapped™” by the social, cultural and institutional barriers that have developed over the past 70+ years, which result in common breastfeeding problems.  Most expecting moms are not aware of these barriers, and even worse, many of the doctors and hospitals (and even magazines, friends and family members) they turn to, do not possess the most accurate “how-to” information and/or engage in practices that actively undermine breastfeeding. Best for Babes™ to the rescue!

In this section, you will find up-to-date information on the most common breastfeeding issues.  Our goal is to empower you with the latest, evidence-based, user-friendly information so you can avoid breastfeeding problems and quickly resolve any difficulties that arise. And, where possible, we’ve provided printable versions complete with scientific references that you can give to your pediatrician, hospital, or loving but misinformed relative as proof!

Whether you are a first-time mom looking forward, or a next-time mom looking back, we want you to be inspired, prepared and empowered for this breastfeeding experience so you can give the best to your babe, feel fabulous about it, and enjoy breastfeeding from the get-go!  This section is a work in progress so please check back with us and see the rest of the site and our Resources page for more help.
