I just found this website today! Wow I am so impressed! I have made it my goal in this lifetime to support mothers who want to breastfeed in anyway that I can!
I am having our 6th baby and have breastfed 7 yrs of my life and my childrens lives so far. I hope to go another to 2 to 3 more yrs with my new baby in January. It is the best gift I could ever give my children!

I’ve no relationship with the company……they just make a wonderful product so I have to share! Especially for the fashion conscious, these are the best….they’re super thin silicone and don’t show *through anything*.

Give the kit to ‘Amanda’ – Kudos for reaching out to teen moms and supporting breastfeeding!

The only thing missing is breast pads (or in many cases, extra receiving blankets or towels) to mop up all the excess milk that sprays everywhere during those first few weeks.

Hi. I’m a Lactation Consultant and I think this is a good article. A little too much product placement for my taste but I agree with the Breast Pump company advice! Medela makes good pumps too but I think both Ameda and Hygeia are better companies. Their products are greener than Medela’s and they both follow the WHO(World Health Organization)Code which specifies no marketing of pictures of bottle nipples. Medela has chosen to ignore the Code.

The risks of unsurmoutable difficulty with breastfeeding after augmentation are usually minimal, not so with reduction. I do think that young women deserve extensive counselling about possible impact before undergoing any type of breast surgery. In my experience it’s usually not sufficient because I end up dealing with the tears of regret.

If I win I will give the Breastfeeding Support Kit to the daughter of a friend of mine who is pregnant. She plans to breastfeed but does not want to talk to her mother’s Lactation Consultant friend prenatally. I’m told that she will have questions for me once the baby’s here so I would be able to advise her about how to use the products in the kit.

Best Advice: Hire a labor and postpartum doula! The support is priceless:)

Surround yourself with people that are supportive of breastfeeding. Ask female friends who have breastfed to stop by for short visits during those first few weeks for encouragement (arrange this before the baby comes)

Excellent tips though I had a boppy pillow, a medela pump, and a bebe au lait cover:) My mother is a lactation consultant and bought the EMAB Breastfeeding Kit for me and I loved loved loved it. My son, Rhys, is 9 months and still a breastfeeding champion! I don’t need a new kit but it sure would make a great baby shower gift:)

If I wing, I honestly would like to donate this kit to some of the young women who go to the high school my husband teaches at. So many of them choose formula for its convenience. I personally don’t see how making a bottle in the middle of the night and doing all those dishes is convenient, but to each his own.

I also don’t think these girls are aware of how beneficial it is for the baby and that it actually doesn’t “ruin” your boobs. Besides, these girls are so young, I am sure they will bounce right back.

Also, they are choosing formula because they are able to get it for free through WIC. But if they had a support kit, perhaps they can at least be introduced to breastfeeding, its benefits and its convenience.
